Reliance Jio Admitss That Airtel Internet Is Even Faster Than What Ookla Reported
The face of the Indian Telecom industry has changed much in the past 6 months. The advent of the Reliance Jio 4G has changed the way the Telecom Industry works. Mukesh Ambani, the chairperson for Reliance Jio has been confident over Jio’s internet speed and had recently challenged Bharti Airtel, their market rival.
The recent challenge came in the picture after Bharti Airtel had announced that it had the fastest internet services in India. They had the certificate from Ookla, the international speed test company. Reliance Jio had questioned the speed test saying that the claim was not true.
In regard to this, Reliance Jio had lodged a complaint to ASCI (Advertising Standards Committee of India) that Bharti Airtel is not the fastest internet provider. With the row against the leading telecom giant, Social Media was filled with viral articles that supported Jio’s claim as well as denied their claim.
The row turned against Reliance Jio as it had invariably proved the Airtel has the fastest internet connection in India, bringing more benefits to their beloved competitor in the Telecom world.
Reliance Jio 4G Vs Airtel Internet Speed Claim:
Jio had claimed that when the speed test was taken by Ookla in a dual sim card phone, the results reflected the speed of Sim 1 even when the data card was on Sim slot 2.
Almost all 4G phones that are available in the market today are dual sim supported. The claim was apparently incorrect. According to the sources, the test was based on “Voice Call” Sim card.
That means, if the sim card 1 was the sim used for voice calls, then the test results would reflect the Sim card 1. If it were in the Sim card 2 slots, then likewise.
Now, with this in mind, there are only two possible scenarios in which Jio’s claim could be proved false.
Sim Slot 1 – Voice Sim Card – Jio
Sim Slot 2 – Data Sim Card – Bharti Airtel
In this, Jio would not be considered as a hindrance as Jio will not be considered as a Voice calling sim card. The Jio sim card will not work on 2G or 3G networks and all the samples will be only for Airtel
Sim Slot 1 – Voice Sim Card – Airtel
Sim Slot 2 – Data Sim Card – Jio
Jio had hoped that the results of Ookla were wrong at this point as they believed that the internet speed was attributed to Jio but the results were tagged as Airtel.
The latest results were clear that by Ookla’s response that the corruption of samples can only occur with Jio to Airtel and not the other way around.
The Ookla’s report had stated that Bharti Airtel has an average of 8.76 while Jio had an average of 7.47. If the Jio samples were removed from their experiment, the speed of Airtel would shoot up more. This clearly implies that Jio was pulling down the speed of Bharti Airtel.
Everyone Has Proved Airtel Internet Is The Fastest!
The results by Ookla proved that Airtel had the fastest internet connection. Now Jio has confirmed that the test results were accurate!
Ookla’s statement clearly says that, ” In these situations, Ookla applies additional data sources and mechanisms during post processing to help determine the actual data carrier being tested.
For example, Ookla matches the connection IP address recorded during the test to known carrier IP blocks. This enables Ookla to determine the actual data carrier with a high degree of confidence.” It further added, ” Airtel’s margin of victory increased when the complete analysis was performed.”
