Enjoy Unlimited Voice Calls & 2GB Data With MTNL’s New Prepaid STV 98
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has now introduced an all new prepaid plan called Prepaid STV at Rs. 98. MTNL started this prepaid plan to take on similar plan launched by Reliance Jio. MTNL is a government based telco and is making all efforts to offer benefits that are similar to Jio. Even Bharti Airtel has very recently come up with a prepaid plan at Rs 99, which has been made available only for selected users.
MTNL at the moment operates in two major telecom circles which are Delhi and Mumbai. The other 20 circles are handled by BSNL. The new plan launched by MTNL at Rs 98 offers its customers with unlimited voice calls and also provides them with 2 GB of data. Also, the customers receive 100 free SMS during the validity period. This plan provides these benefits for 28 days from the day of recharge, which is the validity date. The plan has been effective in both Mumbai and the Delhi circles from the 5th of September 2018.
It can be noticed as MTNL has revised a number of its prepaid plans and the changes are visible in the tariff portfolio. Earlier the company did not launch any plans that were below Rs.100. The all new prepaid plan from MTNL perfectly bridges this gap. Also as mentioned, the benefits offered by the plan are well received by its customers in both the telecom circles.
The benefits like free calling and free SMS are only available for the use in the home network itself. If used in another than MTNL Mumbai, the standard roaming charges are applicable. The plan can be recharged via e recharge and online as well. It is also important to note that MTNL has launched this plan under 2G and 3G and it has not yet been released for 4G data usage.
How similar is MTNL Prepaid STV 98 to Jio’s Plan of Rs 98?
Well, this is one of the most common questions that pops up when a telco launches a prepaid plan similar to Rs 98 Prepaid plan of Jio. The prepaid plan offered by Jio is only aimed at its basic users. The plan provides free unlimited voice calls and these can be made to any existing network in India. It also provides the users with free 300 SMS and provides 4G data of 2GB. In simple terms Jio is much ahead of MTNL prepaid plan and the 2G of Jio has better speeds when compared to MTNL’s 3G.
MTNL hasn’t yet launched 4G services in India
The competition is pretty high in the telecom industry in our country and MTNL has now become an entity of loss making for the Indian government. The company is presently suffering from a lot of debt and this is one of the reasons why the government is not proving MTNL with the needed spectrum for the launch of 4G in India.
